Preserving National Security:
The Growing Role of the Life Sciences

Overview

The conference, Preserving National Security: The Growing Role of the Life Sciences, was held on March 3, 2011, in Washington, DC. The meeting focused on the expanding and evolving connections between advances in the life sciences and US national security.

Addressing the increasingly important and transformative role that the life sciences will play in the 21st century, distinguished speakers and panelists explored topics ranging from USG programs and priorities in the life sciences and biosecurity, to US competitiveness in the global life science market, to the need for scientists to learn how to engage the public in meaningful discussion.

This meeting was made possible by the generous support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
