To the Editor-in-Chief:

I read with interest the article by Strikas and colleagues regarding the lack of availability of the Southern Hemisphere influenza vaccine in the United States. One policy implication that arises from their work and the fact that parts of the United States — ie, American Samoa — are part in the Southern Hemisphere, is that it should be a priority for the Food and Drug Administration to legalize the protection of Americans who reside in American Samoa from influenza.
